It’s been a long while since I didn’t write something that didn’t contain a character that’s in my head. It’s also been a long while since I wrote a blog post. Normally, I’d be sitting here plotting, or adding chapters upon chapters to my current works in progress, but this Sunday, I’m in my normal writing spot on my sofa and I’m still in awe of the past weekend.
On Friday, September 22, I release my newest novel, Kneel. It’s a dark romance that has many BDSM elements. It was a raw, emotional journey that had me bound to my laptop until I finally typed The End. And when I hit publish on it, I didn’t expect to be blown away by the response. In actual effect I wanted to hide in a corner rocking back and forth.
This story was a lot more challenging than my last few. I wouldn’t say it’s darker, but the subject matter is not easy to read, needless to say, the Hero in the story is not the most lovable man. But somehow, Kneel floored the charts on Amazon hitting #5 in the BDSM category on Amazon.com. The highest it’s ever been, sitting in the top ten for three days now on Amazon (Canada, America, UK, and Australia). To say that I’m humbled is an understatement. I’ve been so emotional with all the support I’ve received from readers, bloggers, and authors alike, that I was speechless.
It’s because of those people that I’m able to do this and I am appreciative beyond measure. If I could name everyone I would, but I don’t want to take the chance and miss someone. So, I’d just like to extend a THANK YOU to each and every person who messaged me, shared, posted, read and reviewed, one clicked, and fangirled over this book.
I pretty much spent Friday night in tears. Happy tears, but they flowed in awe as I watched the numbers skyrocket. And when I woke on Saturday, it had only gotten better. I’m still in shock. I don’t believe it. I keep looking at it thinking it’s a fluke. It was unexpected, but my heart is full. I’m happy. It has been one incredibly humbling experience.
It’s not every day people get to live out a dream. Or to follow that said dream. It’s difficult and most days are harder than others, but when you close your eyes, take a long deep breath and push through the anxiety, the fear, and the worry, you’ll find that hard work always pays off. Never give up. Don’t let someone tell you that you cannot do something.
And if you find you lose ‘friends’ along the way, then offer them a smile and move on. Sometimes you’ll find some people are only there for a chapter of your life, whereas others will stay for the whole story. Allow those who stick around to be your foundation. I’ve learned the hard way that some people are only there when it suits them, and that’s okay. Friends come and go, but it’s the real diamonds that are resilient and last forever.
To my diamonds who are still there, who have stuck around through the highs and lows, I love you, and thank you for being there. It’s time to look to 2018 with more books, more hot alphas, and a few unexpected twists and turns.
